Now get the details of the train seat availability on your mobile phone

Today passengers can check for the train seat availability on the official website of Indian Railways. They can also enquire about the same on their mobile phones. All that they need is a mobile with a browser facility or a GPRS function.

Getting the information on the mobile handset is quite simple. For that, passengers have to download the suitable software on the mobile. If they have not registered themselves on the website of the railways, they will have to do so now. However, if they are a member on the IRCTC website, they just have to login to the mobile railway application with the same user ID and password.

This feature allows the passenger to search for the trains, select the desired train, book for the tickets, make a payment and then receive the reservation confirmation. The reservation message gives the ticket PNR number, train number, the date of journey, the class of travel and the coach number.  The passengers can produce this confirmation message along with their valid ID card and it acts as their valid ticket.

If the passengers use the online mode of reservation, they can opt for an e-ticket or i-ticket booking. The i-ticket is a physical ticket, which the passengers will receive within a day or two of making a reservation. The e-ticket booking provides the booking details on the passenger’s e-mail address. Apart from searching for the train seat availability, the website gives its passengers added facilities such as hotel accommodations, hiring a cab and booking tourist trains among others.
